Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred

Because I have a huge fear of hissing geese but I want to exercise I decided to by Jillian's 30 Day Shred. I tried it for the first time yesterday & all you need are arm weights, a little floor space, and 20 minutes.
Seriously, it's only 20 minutes. EVERYONE has 20 minutes they can spend towards doing something good for their body.
So here's my review: the exercises are simple (but they hurt). She combines simple moves such as lunges with bicep curls. I am a huge fan of doing 2 exercises at once and so is Jillian. All about the multitasking... plus you burn more calories by engaging 2 muscle groups.

Honestly, I was done with the video and thought it wasn't that hard. Yes, my arms were dying but I also haven't exercised in months. All in all, it went by so quickly that I figured there was no way it worked.
WRONG! I am ridiculously sore today. (mainly arms but legs too) It goes by so fast & you're so busy you dont even realize you are using muscles you didnt even know existed!

Here's her method: 3, 2, 1. 3 minutes of strength, 2 minutes of cardio, and 1 minute of abs. We do these steps 3x and you're done! Go you! I also like that this video has 3 different levels so you can progress at your own speed but you are able to switch it up so you won't plateau.
I am going to try to do this DVD 3 days a week a long with walking or running (not likely) the other days. Let's see if the 30 day shred really works :)
PS leave comments on what you do to get in shape!

Somebody call PETA

Well, I have this very unusual fear that I didn't even know I had up until a few days ago: geese! We live by a lake so when drew & i take our nightly walk they stand on the sidewalk & HISS at you. I run like crazy because I am so scared and drew laughs. But I refuse to walk alone - which ticks me off - because I'm scared of the dang things. UGH. This morning I came down the stairs to see ALL of these evil things standing there (and drew had already left) so I decided to walk towards the big one (to the right) and hiss right back at him....well then they all charged me HISSING. ALL of them. UGH. So I had to walk around the building and was almost late to work. I had to document them once I got to my car so you could understand my fear. Somebody is going to have to call PETA on me...because I'm about to get the pepper spray....

Attempting to adjust

Today was a long day, actually it was a long weekend. Our first weekend here without everything going on and to be honest, it was kind of depressing. I'm used to BBQs and all that fun stuff for memorial day & it was just drew & me. kinda. He did really well by helping me clean but the rest of the time was spent on the xbox. lol. i need to learn how to entertain myself better for sure but I am very lonely.

It's sad because I haven't been much of a "girls girl" until college-ish but i miss talking to girls my age & having friends around. my boss is older & well, drew isn't a girl (i greatly appreciate this lol) but anyways i had a long day & i'm tired so i'm just whining. & I honestly do love being married :)

Ok on to the recipe of the Soy Chicken which I thought was pretty good (drew said it's not near as good re-heated though)

2 Large Skinless Chicken breasts (I used 4 small ones)
2 TBSP Soy Sauce
1 TBSP Orange Juice (it calls for juice from an orange & i'm too lazy)
1/2 TBSP Olive Oil
Pepper
I added Garlic Salt because basically we (my parents) put garlic in everything

Marinate for at least 4 hours.
Bake in marinade at 400F for 20 minutes (check it) and then flip chicken over and cook for 10min.

The frozen chinese style veggies were good with this & brown rice. We have been trying to eat healthier & have been eating frozen broccoli like crazy. We put the frozen broccoli in a pan, cover it with water, bring water to a boil, and boil for 3 minutes. Drain. Add a little butter & garlic salt & voila. Best frozen broccoli I've EVER tasted. and my husband even likes it. lol

I'll save what we ate tonight for another blog because it was very good & very easy.

Hoping tomorrow I wake up with a better attitude. All this rain is killing me smalls.

Props to Hubby

Well, this post's sole purpose will be to recognize my wonderful husband. We have been living in a pig sty because we don't have enough space for all our stuff and it really drives me crazy! So I have been trying to keep the kitchen clean at all times because that is the only place I know where things go!

While I was in the shower today, Drew vaccuumed and straightened up our family room & it looks awesome! The bedroom still looks like a storage unit threw up in it but thats ok because at least everything outside of that is clean. So woohoo! Go Drew!

I am trying a new recipe tonight: Soy Chicken with chinese veggies (frozen bag) and brown rice. If it's any good, I'll give you the recipe :) We have a good thing going: whoever cooks, the other one does the dishes. I am very fortunate because I have a lot of friends whose husbands don't cook or clean so this works out great for both of us.

Anyways everything is good over at the Bombi house... Happy Memorial Day. I am so grateful for all who have and do serve our country. Thank you!!!

Oh Friday, how I love thee...

I need you to understand that this is probably the sexiest pic i have ever taken. in my whole life. LOL. Just kidding. But for those of you who miss me. Please etch this. or this. into your memory of me. lol

No, I'm not dead. Just far away. Well, I have officially completed my first week of work. Yes! I love to get paid! Lol. It was a good week. It's complete chaos until the hotel opens & once it opens I think I will be VERY busy. But thats ok I'd much rather be busy than bored. I sat thru orientation all day....they ordered pizza and continued to orientate as we ate (haha i rhymed) anyways, they are a lot more strict here than at any of my other jobs so if you text or email me during the day & i don't respond...it's because I can't. I'd like to avoid being fired if possible.

Drew has been swamped at work too. I think we are both very excited to relax this weekend (and go to the pool!!!!!) We may go shop around for a kitchen table & see if there are any memorial day deals. And I need to open a bank account...although drew probably likes me not having one right now (i cant spend any money lol).

We are both so blessed and we are grateful for such amazing friends & family & jobs. I love married life! I definitely could not do it without drew. Although, it will take some getting used to my new name (unofficial still). When I introduce myself, I now just say hi! I'm alicia. LOL. Honestly don't think both names go together but oh well, I just need to get used to it haha :) at least I can still have fun trying to get people to pronounce it. (my fav part about my maiden name was how badly people botched it!)

Anyways, it's friday. I think I deserve a beer.

Peace* xo

Life in the big City

It still feels surreal that we are married and I am 5 hours away from my family & friends. I mean I am fully aware that I am but it's taking a little longer to actually set in. I guess it's good though because this means I am settling in...

Well I haven't really written since the wedding but I have to say it was my ALL time FAVORITE wedding....but I am a little biased. But seriously, the stone chapel was amazing. I definitely recommend it. Actually if any one needs a recommendation on any vendors, talk to me. I was VERY pleased! My color scheme looked awesome & I really liked my centerpieces...oh & the photobooth = a blast!!!

So we decided on a 3 bedroom apartment instead of buying a house. I think we both want to feel out the city before we commit to an area...which is fine. The apts are in between our work & I can come home for lunch everyday (perks of no friends = saving $$$).

This place is so different from my little city. Today, at walmart, these people got into it in the self checkout line because someone thought someone else was cutting blahblah. I was praying neither had a gun. haha. i'm just kidding...kinda. It's definitely a rougher town and I refuse to watch the news (and I LOVE to watch the news & be up to date on stuff) for my own mental sanity...

Well anyways, I know I started this blog to let everyone know about the wedding but if people comment enough *cough cough* then I will try to keep you updated on newlywed life :) :) :)

Mucinex, Nyquil, and Water

Hey! It has been absolutely insanely busy. I am trying to do as much for the wedding and still spend time with my friends. Getting married and moving is a lot of work! And I am pretty much positive that either on my flight to get my sis or the dorm stay, I received a very nice yet annoying cold. It's not swine though so I guess it definitely could be worse. If I feel worse tomorrow, to the doctor I go. But please pray I am 100% on friday!

Well wedding season has officially started and I would love to share pics but I moved most of my stuff to drews...which includes that camera cord.

Anyways, I have mentioned how much work weddings are? seriously...elope. lol. My mom and sis have done so much stuff and I am so grateful so then I can squeeze some friend time in. Well, this time next week, it'll just be me and drew. Away in a far off land....lol CRAZY!!!!

Have I mentioned that growing up is scary? We have some decisions to make about housing etc and I am just not sure. I wish there was a tell all book about life....but I guess thats hows you learn. LAME. Anyways, I guess I should go to sleep since I have a 9am hair appt...and I'm sick....and I have SO much to do. As soon as I check something off, another thing gets added...

That's all I got. Sweet Dreams. XOXO (germ-free).
